K-pop Girl Group Dances to Learn This Summer

When you're stuck at home all summer long, what should you do? I find K-pop dance a fun way to get off my chair, exercise a bit, and enjoy some K-pop! Believe me, I'm far from a good dancer: most of it was self-taught this lockdown! Still, it doesn't matter whether you're a dancer or not, give it a try! Here are my recommendations, and I've split the list into difficulty levels, based on the chorus of the song. Enjoy!

Pink: Cutesy dance

Orange: Energetic dance

Grey: Elegant dance

Blue: Powerful dance

Easy:

Forever Young- Blackpink

A fun dance to learn, it isn't too hard to master the chorus, and also the repeating moves can help you remember what comes next. An energetic summer bop!

Signal- Twice

The footwork and hand actions aren't difficult, though it might be hard doing both at the same time. But you'll look like a cute alien!

Likey- Twice

The choreography for the chorus is relatively simple and there's no hard footwork involved! Just smile!

Kill This Love- Blackpink

A far cry from the cutesy Twice choreographies, this one is the most powerful on the list! It isn't as simple as the ones before, but if you learn it at a slower speed then the original, it won't be too hard.

TT- Twice

Forever iconic! Once you hear the song, you'll be humming it all day long, it's that catchy! I showed it to my friend once, and she couldn't get it out of her head for the rest of the week... The dance is like other Twice choreographies, cute and simple.

Psycho- Red Velvet

Out of all the dances on this list, this could be one of the most elegant! Watch their music video if you like the elegant aesthetic! Like Gashina, this one involves good control over your body, even though the basic moves aren't that hard.

Medium:

Playing with Fire- Blackpink

A simple choreography, but it looks amazing if you do it well! Like Likey, this dance focuses a lot on hand actions, and the wrist.

Gashina- Sunmi

This dance looks simple, but it involves having really good control over your body, in order for the dance to look clean and finished. The footwork isn't hard though, which is why it is in the "medium" section!

Cheer Up- Twice

This timeless song is a bop! The cute hand gestures are still iconic even now, and who can forget the pom-poms and cheerleader outfits? Just dance and don't be shy shy shy!

Whistle- Blackpink

Whistle dance doesn't have much jumping around, but it looks really cool. It looks simpler than it is, but it isn't as fast as some of the other dances. As Blackpink's debut song, the dance does not disappoint!

Dance the Night Away- Twice

This is the definiton of "Summer bop!" With energetic dance moves, even swimming gestures, just imagine dancing barefoot on the beach like Twice did in their music video!

What is Love- Twice

Another day, another Twice choreography. This time, it's another cute concept! Twice really slay cute concepts... Anyway, the choreography is so cute and fun! It is actually quite fast, so pay attention to the details!

Feel Special- Twice

Twice's Feel Special has a empowering message, of the members making each other feel special, and wanted. The dance is clean, impressive and has a lot of intricate group formations, which might be hard if dancing solo. But with such a beautiful meaning, I highly encourage you to learn the choreography and check out the music video too!

Gogobebe- Mamamoo

I love this dance! It's fun, not too hard to learn, and overall an energetic choreography, Especially the bit where you pick up your ponytail!

DDU DU DDU DU- Blackpink

The chorus is POWERFUL! Think gun hand gestures, quick shoulder movements and just overall energy! This is one of K-pop's most iconic dances, and it isn't too hard to learn either!

Icy- ITZY

ITZY is a rookie K-pop group taking the world by storm! Despite debuting a year ago, they are known for powerful empowering message, and also being one of the best rookie dance groups in K-pop! Their complex choreography never ceases to amaze, but Icy is the easiest dance of their three title tracks.

Starry Night- Mamamoo

So elegant...it's one of my favorite relaxing songs, with strong vocals, and a simpler dance that fits! It's elegant, and beautiful to dance to.

Hard:

Peek-a-boo- Red Velvet

If you love creepy concepts, definitely watch the Peek-a-boo MV. If you're a scaredy-cat like me don't worry, the dance isn't creepy, just energetic and fun to learn! It definitely will get you up and moving!

Fancy- Twice

This has got to be the catchiest song of the century. At random intervals throughout the day, I find myself humming the song, even sometimes doing the choreography! My text tone on my phone is now Chaeyong's "Fancy, ooh!" which goes to show how much I love the song...this is also my favorite Twice choreography!

Who Dis- Secret Number

What's your number? They just debuted, but they've garnered a massive fanbase already! Secret Number's Who Dis chorus choreography is energetic, and also involves good control! A fun dance to learn.

Wannabe- ITZY

Another dance from the rookie dance queens! I mean, 4/5 of the group members are in the dance line...that's got to count for something! The chorus of the dance isn't extremely hard, which is why it's not a challenge dance. The shoulder dance is a different story...

Bon Bon Chocolat- Everglow

I alove Everglow! I for one, am a massive fan of girl crush concepts. If it wasn't for the unfair line distribution, I would've stanned them. Bon Bon Chocolat has a unique dance, and it's impressive to perform!

Adios- Everglow

Another Everglow choreography, this one is high-energy, and super intense! A fun workout, and involves a lot of jumping about.

Challenge:

More & More- Twice

Twice's latest comeback did not disappoint. More & More had an ethereal aesthetic, dazzling us Onces with amazing choreography, vocals, rap and music video! More & More's chorus is intense, and involves a lot of jumping, at the same time needing to have precise moves and good control over your body. Hard!

DALLA DALLA- ITZY

The chorus is not too hard, but the rest of the dance is quite a challenge! I wouldn't have expected anything less for the debut song of this rookie dance group. It's really fun, and I do this choreography whenever I'm feeling a bit restless.

Butterfly- LOONA

We've all heard the infamous cry of "Stan Loona!" at some point. Wondering what the hype was about, I searched up Loona, and wow! Butterfly has got to be the hardest K-pop girl group choreography I've ever seen. It's really intricate, but at the same time high energy. It involves really good control over your body, yet the ability to dance quickly and with energy! This choreography is a challenge, and if you learn it, I'm seriously impressed!
