Welcome to entry 2 of my Lockdown Diary challenge! Today I wrote a poem of a collection of memories that represent the lockdown to me. This could be physical things like masks and cake recipes, but it could also be things like video calls and an episode of Healer (note: I watched WAY too much K-drama this lockdown!). Usually I don't write poems, because a) metaphorical language isn't my strong suit and b) I'm just not used to it. But then again, lockdown is the perfect time to push your boundries and expand your horizons! Go ahead and try your hand at poetry! Enjoy!
Lockdown Memories
You open a chest of memories
Through the mess buried within
You unearth a long-forgotten mask
A video call lays limply
Through the dark and gloom you spot
A recipe for pandan cake
Twenty minutes of yoga
Chaos and panic
Calm quiet evenings
A sense of urgency awaits
So does an episode of Healer
A hobby or two lays forgotten
And a mundane online class
But after searching long and hard
You find the thing you seek
A glimmer of hope wriggles in the abyss
And suddenly things don't look quite so bleak.
What a beautiful, uplifting poem!
